superorganism

in 1969, between august 15-18, on a dairy farm in bethel NY, something like half a million people all went to the same place, which caused some crazy shit to happen in the gestalt consciousness. ive been thinking abt woodstock for a bit and wanted to yap a little, see how it goes

in the noosphere there are these things. yea not exactly a good way to describe them but that's honestly the best way i can. they exist within subcultures and grow via accretion, like dust bunnies, but they're alive, and they kinda just move around in them like jellyfish collecting stuff. eventually tho, if they grow big enough or something big happens in realspace, it catalyses a weird process in noospace that uhhh.. it's the creation of a psionic superorganism, a "hivemind" of sorts. yeah

that thing is like, every thought anyone's ever had within and about this particular subculture, and it's got tendrils... like a jellyfish. really i should have started with the jellyfish description but whatever LOL. so this jellyfish, made of accreting thoughts drifting around in the noosphere, is affected by currents within it, like when a bunch of people go towards something in realspace they form a wake that draws things into it. and that can also draw the thing in. when its tendrils find people they get tangled up, attached, like how aspects r tied in but instead it's to this fucking thing

so. woodstock. half a million folks all go and it whips up a truly ferocious current in noospace. nobody really knows if the jellything got caught up in it or if it tagged along with an aspect or two or whatever, but it goes nuts. those tendrils are connecting every which way and now half a million people are tied into this thing, which is also accreting their thoughts and changing bc noospace is weird. its actually a huge case study for the agency bc like that made something else happen which we didnt realise until like the 90s-ish, and thats essentially the creation of a boltzmann brain - the woodstock superorganism

wtf is a boltzmann brain. umm. so clever guy, physicist/philosopher ludwig boltzmann, was like "it'd be easier for a brain to spontaneously form in space with full memory of having existed in our universe than the universe actually starting and existing the way we think it did" and he was kinda right, bc the brain is certainly spontaneous, but not right in that it's in noospace instead where weird things happen all the time lol

the thing-jelly became a boltzmann brain over the course of those three days (we don't know if it was instantaneous or if it took a moment of people getting ridiculously high and eating mud or whatever) and it's now autonomous? semi-autonomous, like everyone who went is still their own person but theyre just entirely joined to a gestalt entity now. agency calls it the woodstock superorganism

and like. this is gonna sound weird but, after woodstock there were a few band breakups that people talk abt being bc of the connection??? i wont touch on the suicides, that's dark even for me and i think the rumours are disrespectful, but still. like. it's spooky. maybe they're still playing somewhere in the zeitgeist

as far as we know it's still hanging around up there. thinking. perceiving something. dont know what but folks have been trying to figure it out for the better half of a century now. drug distribution at festivals has been on the budget since woodstock, some folks think it might trigger a formation, but it tends to be random. burning man's a big one. furry conventions too lol. there was a big superconductor thing in 1987 that caused one to form and it got big in '89 with the entire cold fusion debacle, evolved over time into the standard model superorganism (its why people can actually understand quantum physics LMAO)
